"Get your Guns and Roses UP!" Graduation Celebration

May brings such excitement, for most it simply means that summer is only weeks away. For others, it means graduation! Graduation parties are so much fun, but they can also be one of the hardest ones to coordinate, especially if your guest of honor is a "guy". This inspiration board was created with my nephew in mind. He is going to Texas Tech in the fall- so my focus was red and black. What better than hostessing a casino theme party!!

Almost everything that goes with casino games comes in red and black- cards, dice, dominoes. Go all out setting up tables for guests to visit, mingle, eat and drink- but then when the social hour is over- let them keep the energy going with some fun casino games. Be sure to pick up some prizes if you don't want your guests to actually gamble.

Take a simple theme and ramp it up a little by playing around with it- "Get your Guns UP" would have been great, but adding the Roses to the theme- gives it a little more "POP"... Guests could dress up like Big Hair 80's bands...how fun would that be... well, you might want to run it past your graduate... ;)

Serve red drinks- Red Crush, old Coca Cola bottles, or Dr. Pepper bottles

Love that you can special order M&M's in colors or personalized. Special touches all around the serving tables will make your guest feel special.

The best kind of apple to eat..

is the one that is actually a cupcake.

As stated, I am a sucker for food that looks like other food. When I saw these adorable sugary apple cupcakes, I added another recipe to my "Want to Make" list! Actually, its more on my "Want to Eat" list, but I figure you gotta make it to eat it, right?
On a side note, what did I do last night? Watched LOST in confusion. Where will I be tonight? Watching Jack Bauer save the world.
Go, Jack, go.

New blog feature...

Who doesn't love QUITTIN' TIME!? Let's face it, its a good feeling to know that a couple of days of fun and rest are in store.

In celebration of the weekend, I am starting a new feature on the blog! One of my favorite ways to learn from others is from quotes. Some people have the talent of saying exactly what I was thinking, and so much better than I ever could! So, each Friday, we will be hearing some words of wisdom that I like. Some might make you think and some might make you smile, and they all will give you something to think about!

Come back tomorrow around quittin' time (or maybe even a little earlier!) to celebrate the weekend!

Its time to party, in a cyber-blogging-way.

I am excited to share that the Come Together Cards Blog is getting even MORE creative!
I have been wanting to feature party ideas on the blog for awhile. In fact, I will always accept pictures of the party you just had! Its clear to me that paper and celebrating go together so well. And, of course, I LUV a good, well decorated party.
So, imagine my surprise when an expert was in my bloggy backyard!

Meet Angie.

I met Angie several years ago when I worked for an adoption agency and her husband and her came through for their first adoption. We had mutual friends and hit if off. They ended up adopting two adorable boys which keep her busy and active. Meanwhile, her husband makes mine laugh by sending him random twitter notes from obscure basketball players from the mid-80s.

I had no idea that all this time Angie had talent for party planning until she started her blog recently. And ding-ding-ding, a bloggy partnership was born. Angie will be bringing us Inspiration: Celebrate every other Wednesday. You will see what a creative eye she has- you are going to love what she brings us. Seeing the photos she finds makes me want to plan a ROCKIN' PARTY! :)

So, please enjoy the first installment of Inspiration:Celebrate!

Hey yall, this is Angie. I am so excited about today’s inspiration board. Can you believe I actually set out in search of the perfect "Father's Day" theme? My mind was set on finding the classic preppy couture Lacoste Alligator, White Whale, or even Ralph Lauren Polo look.

Be still my pounding heart- I went from GUYS to GALS in a flash. Take a look at the LATEST party crave- PiNk & PRepPY- this is not your average private school girl party.

Just picture your lil’ preppy princess being the center of attention at her next “Preppy-n-Pink” birthday celebration.

Don’t these fun colors and prints just get you in the mood for a day at the country club?

Start by thinking preppy- textures, sports, fashion:
Argyle, plaid, grosgrain headbands, layered cotton with collar up, everything monogrammed, green, pink, golf, tennis, polo, croquet, top-siders, grosgrain belts, sweaters, I think you are starting to get the idea.
NoW, put this all together to start planning the perfect “Pretty-n-Pink” celebration.

Keep the pink and green theme going through out the party.

From invitations, to napkins, to flowers….

Grosgrain ribbon belts make great party favors. You can even add them to your table décor.

Have guests pose for pictures on a golf cart or even chauffeur guests through the neighborhood.

Set up different stations in the backyard for croquet, tennis, or even a putting green. Have a fashion show for the guests to show off their “Preppy Style”.

Buckets of tennis balls and golf balls make great decorations.

This theme is can be tweaked for a fun co-ed wedding shower or even just a dinner party with friends.

Tootalloo,

Angie

Monkeying around and turning one!

When Jessica told me she was planning her son's first birthday party, I couldn't believe it! It seemed like just yesterday that I designed the birth announcement for little Chason! But, I know it to be true- time flies!
She chose Monkey's with blue and yellow accent, so I made this invitation for the sweet little one year old.

I bet the party was crazy with all those little one year old monkeys running around! :)

Photos from Maui

We just got back from a *HEAVENLY* vacation in Maui! We had such a ball and were able to really relax.

There was an Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston/Nicole Kidman movie shooting next door, so we were able to see a lot of celebrities! That was really fun- photos of that to come soon!

Road trip to my favorite store- final trip!

Welcome back to Cloverleaf.
Last time we explored the outdoors of my favorite place, and today is the best part-- the inside!
The creativity the owner, Heidi, uses in her display, and the selections of fabulous products make this a great stop on a roap trip and a wonderful place to be inspired!

My husband and I cannot resist the funky glasses! He chooses 70’s bug-eye vibe, I
opt for girly bling.

Frames, pillows, jewelry…so much to look at!

This rack is full of amazing options for your next craft or home display.
I covet this glitter!

The display of crowns is begging me to try one on and crown myself the “cute card queen”!!

There are buckets of tiles, squares and letters. I was happy to find I could spell one of my favorites names!

Thanks for joining me on this road trip! Next time I will crunch you in my suitcase and take you to see it all in person!

I love these junky, found objects!

I don’t want to overwhelm you with too much of a good thing, so join me next time when we shop the INSIDE of this fabulous, funky store!

My favorite store--Why even the parking lot is cool.

Road trip to my favorite store- Day One

Although we live in Texas, the Oklahoma border is not too far away. We have dear friends in Norman so my husband an d I find any excuse to make the trek down 35 to see our neighbors.

During one road trip, we happened upon a gem of a store of the highway and it has turned out to be one or my favorite finds. Cloverleaf is a wonderland of a gift shop.

I was mesmerized from the moment I drove up to the store and saw the store surrounded by old bicycles, painted pink. There are dozens of them, all outlining the parking lot and outlining the store. And from the initial impression is just gets better. There is something dazzling to see everywhere you look.

The porch has old found items, while the inside gift area of the store is floor to ceiling with the trendiest finds! I love wonder around and take it all in. Cloverleaf has become one of my favorite stores!

I wish I could take you there in person, so travel with me as I show you some highlights!

And like I said, this is just the parking lot! There is still SO much to see. Come back soon and we can explore more...
