Its weird to be thinking about Christmas- it seems far away but will be here before we know it! Next week is October, and once fall is here, the days fly by... At least for me!

Thursday is tv night....

Has anyone else have the wave of sickness/allergies hit them? I am not sure what it is, but it has hit me and my family and put me out of commission for the last week. I am still a little out of it, but finally able to think without my head swimming.

Okay, so this week is big in tv-- The Office and Grey's Anatomy are back! On the same day! At the same time!

Friends, what the heck are we simple folks gonna do?? We only have one tivo and it only tapes one show at a time. For that matter, we only have one tv with cable.

So, WHAT DO WE TAPE/WATCH??? This was an issue last year and will be again! Grey's is TWO hours and The Office is one. Either way, I am missing a show I want to see. I am racked my brain to figure out a solution, and I need to defer to you. Any ideas?? I could watch online...but only have a desktop in the office, which is not the most comfy, but might have to do. Humph.

Wedding favor photo cards

I am working with my friend, Jodie, who needed some cards for an upcoming wedding she is photographing.

I made these cards to pass out at the wedding so they would have the link to view the pictures.
On other news, I am super busy working on a *NEW* website for Come Together Cards. I am so excited about it but it is sucking the creative life out of me! Web design is not my calling in life. That is for sure.
I will try to keep enough to squeeze out some blogging, though!
It is amazing weather in Texas- I truly feel that this might be the start of fall. It is so weird how it was just one of the most devastating weather weekends, then the calm after the storm. That says something about God's nature to me... I just don't know what. Maybe that he doesn't give us more than we can handle? Or that he gives grace and beauty after hard times? Not sure, but something like that! :)
We have a busy week this week! My husband is singing in a wedding, so we have that all weekend, plus a fundraiser this Thursday, and a ballet this Sunday. Shew. We will be party animals by the time its all done!

Hurricane Ike comes to Texas

Every place I hear the media- radio, Internet, and tv, they are scaring me about the hurricane! I don't really have a fear-- we are very far from the Gulf of Mexico and Galveston/Houston has the real concern. But since I am doing an art fair outdoors tomorrow, I feel a little sad. I do love the rain, and that is what we will be getting a lot of, so good for all those that will NOT be at an outdoor fair. This is a warning that I am SURE my Internet will be disconnected, so if you don't hear from me, that is probably why. Happy Hurricane!

Mexican Fiesta Rehersal Dinner

Adorable Sarah Beth found me through my sweet friend, Fabulous K. She is getting married and wanted me to design her fiesta-themed rehearsal dinner invitations. Her fiance is in the Air force, and when she sent me the pictures of them to draw from, I realized we went to college together and were in the same sorority! Isn't that a hoot??
I guess a lesson that I am better with faces than with names, huh?! :)

Blue and Brown Leopard and Houndstooth

Today it was raining, and my Internet didn't work. I am not sure if those things are related or not. But, while it was a tad bit inconvenient, it was really a blessing, because I got to work on several new designs! It also helped that my car battery was dead, so I couldn't go anywhere either. I was pretty much captive in my non-technological house! :) I had plenty of Cherry Coke Zero, and that is good, b/c it is what makes my brain work.

Stay tuned for several more new designs over the next few days- including some cute kids designs for a fireman and pirate theme!

The First Dallas Cowboy game makes me think of...

A platter I saw at Swoozies. This is what it said:

Has anyone been there? Oh, of course, I don't mean my husband watches/has watched sports alot. I just mean, um, I can relate. Ahem.

Movie Premiere

This weekend, a new movie called "Bangkok Dangerous" comes out. Which I think is a cheesy name, and every time I hear it, in my mind I say the same thing.

Bangkok Dangerous. Bery Bery Dangerous.

You just entered the world of dumb jokes in which I live. Is it scary?

Kids Creative Birthday Party Ideas

Yeah for a write up in this month's issue of Dallas Child! Come Together Cards was just featured on their blog last month, and this month we made it to the mag! Who-hoo!

The article talks about great party planning for kid's birthday parties, and has some great ideas for some creative twists on ordinary children's birthday parties! They refer to Come Together Cards as "original hand-drawn or novel photo greeting cards...with bright, whimsical cartoon characters to depict your family".

Hint for a Rookie Mom taking a child to preschool

I found this on a friend of a friend's blog and thought it was too funny...
I live by a philosophy a fellow mom of boys taught me when I was just a rookie mom: "Dress your kids cute and send good teacher gifts...no matter how bad your kids are, their teachers will still love them!" So far, it's worked for us!
Well said! :)

Equal Opportunity Card Maker

I have shown you the teacher note cards, which all have ladies on them. And of course, some of the greatest teachers (and coaches) are men! My favorite college professor was Dr. Myers in the Baylor University School of Social Work. So, I apologize, men of the world, for leaving you out.

Here are the male teacher cards... one for a coach (of any sport) and one for a teacher.

Fabulous

Fabulous K, who designed this blog, just wrote about me on her blog. Ahhhh, so sweet! I drew a little Come Together Cards girl for her. Read about it here

Where I have been...

Its been almost a full week since my last post! Where have I been you ask? Here are some answers...
  1. Catching up on orders since I was out of town. Hotcakes, I tell you. Customers come first, and blogging comes second, so, it has been second for about a week while I catch up.
  2. Looking for a new car for my husband. Since we were gone last week, we took his car to the shop and did not get a good report. We have spend lots of time looking for cars on Craig's List, which, I might add, is FULL of scams. Isn't it the worst? I totally want to be do a citizen's arrest when someone tells me that I cannot look at their car or talk to them in person before I give them money! WHAT!?
  3. Celebrating Labor Day (today) by laboring at the nearest water park. My almost 2 year old fell down and busted his lip, and it was the first time he has drawn blood. I thought that sounded like a bad Jean Claude Van Damme movie- "Drew first blood" or something cheesy like that. Can't you see it?

So, happy labor day, and especially, happy 4 day work week! Yea!!
